Before you go

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor garden area, which the brewery describes as having shady spots for four legged family members. Treat the garden as the dog area and keep dogs leashed and with you, as with any licensed venue. No public statement was found permitting dogs inside the indoor taproom, so assume the garden only.

When: Daytime Evenings Monday to Thursday 11.30am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 11.30am to 10pm, Sunday 11.30am to 9pm. The brewery lists closures on 25 and 26 December and New Year's Day, and closing at 6pm on New Year's Eve. Hours are as published by the brewery, so confirm before a long drive.

About Capital Brewing Co Taproom

Capital Brewing's taproom occupies a warehouse in the Dairy Road precinct, a short drive south east of the Canberra CBD. The draw for dog owners is the garden, roughly two thousand square metres of lawn and planting wrapped around the building, with a water channel running through it and plenty of tree cover. The brewery's own website points visitors to shady spots for four legged family members, and VisitCanberra describes the venue as family and dog friendly, so this is a place that plans for dogs rather than tolerating them. Food is handled on site by Brodburger, doing burgers and hot dogs, and there is a children's play area with a cubby house, which makes it an easy stop with kids and a dog in tow. Parking in the Dairy Road complex is straightforward, which is not always the case at Canberra venues.
