The Guide's rating
The rules, in short
Before you go
The venue's own frequently asked questions confirm dogs are welcome in the cafe and Beach Bar section, that they must be kept on a lead, and that staff will supply a bowl of water on request. The welcome is stated for that section specifically rather than for the indoor restaurant, which is consistent with Western Australian food premises rules that keep dogs out of enclosed dining areas.
Lead required at all times in the cafe and Beach Bar area. The dog friendly welcome applies to that outdoor section, not to the indoor restaurant.

Worth knowing before you arrive
- Dogs are welcome in the cafe and Beach Bar section only, so ask to be seated there rather than in the restaurant.
- Beach Bar hours are shorter than the restaurant's and the weekend closing time is listed as sunset and weather dependent, so a wild day may cut your visit short.
- Exposed beachfront position, which means real wind and sun on the outdoor tables.
- City Beach itself has its own council rules about dogs on the sand, which are set by the Town of Cambridge and are separate from the pub's policy. Check those before heading down to the water.
About Clancy's Fish Pub City Beach
Clancy's sits in the rebuilt City Beach foreshore precinct, right above the sand and looking straight out at the Indian Ocean. The venue splits into a proper sit down restaurant and a more casual Beach Bar and cafe section that opens early, and it is that outdoor casual side where dogs are welcome. Because the Beach Bar starts serving from half past six in the morning, it works well as the coffee stop at the end of a dawn walk along the coastal path. Staff will bring a water bowl if you ask, which is a small thing that tells you the policy is real rather than tolerated. Expect a lead, a bit of wind, and a queue on a good Sunday.Which dogs it suits
