Before you go

Dog friendly all year round on selected dog friendly sites, with a maximum of two dogs per approved site or cabin. Dogs must be supervised at all times and must never be left unattended, including inside tents, caravans, cabins, cars and trailers. Dogs must be on a lead under two metres long, or contained within a suitably fenced area on your own site. Dogs are not permitted in or around shared guest facilities such as the amenities block, camp kitchen, playground, park office and pool, and are not permitted in or around non dog friendly cabins at any time. Dogs must be healthy, parasite free and up to date with vaccinations, and proof may be requested. Dangerous or aggressive dogs are not accepted.

Within the park a lead of less than two metres is required, or containment within an appropriately fenced area on your own site. The adjoining Rainbow Beach has a council declared off leash section between Duchess Creek and Middle Rock.

Worth knowing before you arrive

Rainbow Beach is zoned, not blanket dog friendly. Off lead runs from Duchess Creek north to Middle Rock, on lead applies only on the access stretch from the leash free access point north to Duchess Creek, and the beach south of that access point is closed to dogs.
Bartletts Beach at Bonny Hills is a prohibited area for dogs.
Dogs are banned from all NSW national parks and nature reserves, so nearby reserves are not an option.
Council may close beach areas temporarily during shorebird breeding or after severe weather. Obey the signage on the day.
Dogs cannot be left unattended anywhere in the park, including in a locked cabin or vehicle.
Summer sand and bitumen get hot enough to burn paw pads. Walk early or late.

About Reflections Bonny Hills Holiday Park

Reflections runs this park on public Crown land at Bonny Hills, roughly twenty minutes south of Port Macquarie. Dog friendly sites are available all year and can be booked for up to two dogs, and there is a dog wash on site for rinsing off sand and salt. A marked path leads down to Rainbow Beach, where the council allows dogs off lead between Duchess Creek and Middle Rock. Read the beach zoning carefully, because the southern end of the same beach is closed to dogs altogether.

Which dogs it suits

A published, detailed code of conduct, dog friendly sites all year, a dog wash, and a council declared off leash beach at the end of the path is close to the ideal setup. Held back from five because the cabin side of the policy is not spelled out publicly and the beach zoning is easy to get wrong.
